❄️ Winter Is Coming: Why Now Is the Time to Schedule Your Exterior Repairs!
Colder Weather Is Here - Don't Wait to Complete Your Exterior Projects!
As we move deeper into the colder months in Nebraska, homeowners often start noticing issues like loose shingles, drafts around siding or gutters no longer draining properly. While it's natural to want to put repairs off until Spring, the truth is that some exterior work needs to be completed before temperatures drop too low.
If you are hoping to finish a repair or replacement this year, now is the ideal time to get scheduled - especially for roofing.
Why Does Temperature Matter for Exterior Work?
Different exterior materials require specific minimum temperatures to seal, cure or perform the way they are designed to. When it gets too cold, installations may not adhere correctly, creating long-term problems and voiding manufacturer guidelines or warranties.
Here are the temperature minimums for the services we offer:
🔹 Roofing (Shingles): 40–45°F or higher
Shingle adhesive needs adequate warmth to activate and properly bond. Below 40°F, shingles may not seal (leading to wind damage, leaks and premature wear).
🔹 Siding: 30°F or higher
Siding can still be installed in colder conditions, but the material becomes less flexible as temperatures drop. Working above 30°F ensures proper fit and safe fastening.
🔹 Gutters: 35°F or higher
Gutters and downspouts expand and contract with temperature. Installing them below freezing can lead to cracking, improper alignment or sealant issues.
What Happens If Repairs Are Delayed Until Spring?
If temperatures fall too low, certain projects simply can't be completed safely or properly. In those cases, homeowners may have to:
-
Live with ongoing leaks or drafts.
-
Deal with worsening storm damage.
-
Risk additional interior issues like drywall stains or mold.
-
Join the long scheduling backlog for Spring.
Taking care of repairs now ensures your home stays protected through winter and keeps the project timeline on your terms.
